How these letters work
They aren't installed fonts, but Unicode symbols that look like letters in another style. That's why you can copy and paste them where you normally can't change the font, like a bio or a comment.
Where to use them
- Highlight your name or a phrase in your bio.
- Emphasize a word in a post.
- Separate sections in a long description.
Use them in moderation
Screen readers used by people with visual impairments may read these symbols wrongly or not at all. Also, the networks' own search may not recognize them as normal text. Avoid using them for important information, such as your real name, a price or contact details.
Some older phones don't display every style and show empty boxes. If it matters, test it on another device first.
Frequently asked questions
Do they work on Instagram and TikTok?
They usually do, because they're text characters. Even so, each platform and device may display them differently.
Do they work with accents?
Usually yes: the tool adds the accent over the letter, although in some styles it may look slightly separated.
Do they affect being found in searches?
They might, because search engines don't always recognize them as normal letters. Keep your name and keywords in normal text.
