How to prepare a profile picture for every network
Your profile picture appears tiny and cropped into a circle. A few adjustments make it recognizable at a glance.
Profile picture sizes
| Network | Recommended size |
|---|---|
| 320 × 320 | |
| TikTok | 200 × 200 |
| YouTube | 800 × 800 |
| 500 × 500 | |
| 320 × 320 | |
| X | 400 × 400 |
| 400 × 400 |
These are minimum reference sizes. You can upload a larger square image and the network will shrink it, but never a smaller one, because it will look blurry.
The circle rules
Almost every network shows the profile picture cropped into a circle, even if you upload it square. The corners disappear, so your face or logo should be in the center with some space around it.
Tips to make it recognizable
- Get closer. Your face or logo should fill a good part of the image. At a small size, a full-body photo can't be made out.
- Simple background. A plain color or a blurred background helps what matters stand out.
- Good light. Light from the front, for example next to a window, instead of backlight.
- The same photo everywhere. Using the same image on all your networks helps people recognize you as they move from one to another.
If it's a logo
Use a simplified version: the symbol without text, or a single letter. Small text can't be read in a profile picture. If your logo is wide, fit it in the square with a background color instead of cropping it.
How to prepare it
In the resizer, choose the network and the “Profile picture” format. Drag the image until the important part is in the center, adjust the zoom and download it. Repeat for each network if you want the exact size for all of them.
Fit your images to the size of each social network.
